Baked Beans
2 c dry navy beans (1 one pound package)
4 c water
1 medium onion chopped
2 T butter
1/2 c molasses
1/2 c maple syrup
2 tsp salt
1 tsp dry mustard
1 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Cover beans with water and soak overnight.
Drain beans and combine with 4 c water in 2 qt saucepan.
Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer 2 hours. Drain beans reserving 2 cups of liquid.
Saute onion in butter till soft. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 2 qt baking dish, combine beans, onion, liquid, and other ingredients. Mix well and bake for 2 hours, stirring occasionally. Add water if needed. Uncover and bake 35-45 minutes longer until top is browned
