Rolled Christmas Cookies
1 1/2 c powdered sugar
1 c butter, softened
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp almond extract
2 1/2 c flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream of tartar
Assorted colored sugar to decorate
Mix powdered sugar and butter till creamed. Add vanilla, almond extract and egg. Mix in flour, baking soda and cream of tartar. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours or more. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Roll half of dough 3/16 inch thick on lightly floured surface. Cut into shapes. Sprinkle with colored sugar. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake 7-8 minutes until edges brown very slightly. Cool on cookie rack. Decorate with frosting if desired.
