Pralines

3 c sugar
1 c buttermilk
1 tsp baking soda
3 c pecans
4 T butter
1/4 tsp vanilla
Add soda to buttermilk. Combine with sugar. Cook to soft ball stage, remove from heat. Add butter, nuts and vanilla. Beat until creamy, and drop by spoonfuls on parchment paper.
